History
 Cardinal Construction Inc., traces its history back to 1895, when John G. Miller, Sr. established a construction company in Waterloo, Iowa. For years, John G. Miller met the construction needs of Northeast Iowa on the principles of hard work, strong ethics, and a cooperative spirit to produce a superior product at a fair price. In the 1950's, the Miller Organization started a subsidiary of the company under the name of Black Hawk Construction Company. This was done in an effort to provide a merit shop construction firm in the surrounding areas of Northeast Iowa, outside of Black Hawk County.
In 1977, John G. Miller activated yet another subsidiary of the company under the name of Cardinal Construction Inc. In the mid 1980's, the operations of both John G. Miller and Black Hawk Construction were merged into Cardinal Construction. At that time, Cardinal Construction also became an employee-owned company, with all eligible employees being offered the benefit of stock ownership. The summer of 1997 brought yet another exciting change with the merger/purchase of Beck-Ericson, Inc. of Cedar Falls.
 The heritage of the past and the principles of our founder continue to be the driving force behind the strength of Cardinal Construction today. From industrial to commercial construction, from retirement structures to multiple and single family dwellings, Cardinal Construction's commitment to quality, reliability, and versatility is unmatched in the industry.
